Homemade makeup remover

100% natural ingredients

By making your own makeup remover oil in the Ball Mason Jar | 240 ml , you not only save waste. The natural oils we use are also much kinder to your face than conventional makeup removers. Just make sure you use the right oils . This way you can effectively remove makeup and dirt while providing your skin with good nutrients and keeping it balanced.

Find the right oil for your skin type

When it comes to oils, there is no one-size-fits-all rule. Using an oil that doesn't suit your skin type can clog pores and lead to further breakouts or irritation. We certainly don't want that! We've also found that we get better results when we combine more than one oil for our custom cleanser . Two oils are more than enough here: a base oil that makes up the majority of the blend and a complementary oil that has either anti-inflammatory or nourishing properties depending on your skin type. For the base oil, we recommend you use:
  • Oily, acne-prone skin : grape seed, jojoba or sweet almond oil (these oils are lighter and do not clog pores as quickly)
  • dry, mature skin : avocado, argan or pumpkin seed oil (these oils are richer and more nutritious)
  • normal skin : jojoba and sunflower seed oil
To complete your mix, we recommend:
  • oily, acne-prone skin : castor, rosehip, hemp seed or pomegranate oil (these oils have an astringent and anti-inflammatory effect)
  • dry, mature skin : almond or marula oil (nourishing and soothing)
  • normal skin : Argan oil (contains vitamin E, which has antioxidant protection against environmental influences)
At Greentastic you will find a selection of natural essential oils that you can use for your homemade makeup remover.

Cleansing oil with only 2 ingredients

Here's how:

When you have found the right oils for your skin type, fill 2/3 of the base oil into your Ball Mason | Regular | 240 ml and mix in 1/3 of the oil that suits you. Place the stainless steel pourer on top and screw the jar shut. Now carefully roll your FAVORITE JAR back and forth in your hands so that the oils mix. Thanks to the lid on the pourer, you can also store your makeup remover directly in the jar, as this protects it from dust and dirt.

Application

To use, take your makeup remover oil and pour it through the spout onto a cotton pad or your reusable makeup remover pad . Then gently rub your eyes and face and remove your makeup. Then continue with your usual skincare routine. Observe your skin for the first few days while you are using the oil. If your skin feels too dry or too slippery, adapt the oils accordingly.

zero-waste skin care

durability

Saturated or monounsaturated oils such as almond or olive oil make your makeup remover oil last longer. These oils do not absorb into the skin as quickly. Unsaturated specialty oils are absorbed by the skin much more quickly, but do not last particularly long. It is best to also check the expiration date of your oils. We generally recommend that you use up your makeup remover oil within 6 months .
