Make your own massage candle

For us, homemade gifts are one of the best parts of the pre-Christmas period. Taking time for your loved ones, being creative and trying something new - like a DIY massage candle , for example. If you are now wondering: What is a massage candle? A massage candle is not just a candle that you simply light. It is actually intended to be massaged directly onto the skin. The homemade candle is not made of wax like conventional candles, but of fats and oils: almond oil, shea butter and cocoa butter. They have a lower melting point than rapeseed wax or paraffin, for example. This means you can apply the liquid "massage wax" directly to your skin without burning yourself. The warmth is incredibly beneficial for you and your skin . At the same time, the skin is cared for with valuable raw materials and feels wonderfully smooth afterwards.

Give the gift of time out and peace

A massage candle can be a small symbol for a voucher for a spa or a massage from yourself. The DIY idea is implemented in no time and you only need a few ingredients. Especially in the small Ball Mason Jar | Quilted | 120 ml with the pretty diamond pattern, it creates great light effects and is perfect as "gift packaging".

Zerowaste gift in a jar

A DIY massage candle is a great, sustainable zero-waste gift . You can buy all the ingredients plastic-free and in the best quality at Greentastic.de - the shea butter and cocoa butter, the two basic ingredients for a massage candle, are not easy to find in plastic-free packaging. We can therefore highly recommend it to you.

DIY massage candle

What you need:
  • 1 x Ball Mason Jar | Quilted | 120ml
  • 30 ml almond oil
  • 30 g shea butter (unrefined)
  • 30 g cocoa butter
  • 1 wick
  • 1 clothespin, wooden stick or pen
  • 1 pot
  • 1 bowl for melting
And here's how it works: Bring some water to a boil in a pot and place a bowl on top of the pot. After you have weighed all the ingredients, melt them in the bowl above the pot. With these fats and oils, this only takes a few minutes. Once all the ingredients have melted and mixed, pour the "wax" into your FAVORITE JAR. Now we wrap some wick around the wooden stick. We simply shortened a sushi stick. Cut the wick to the length of your FAVORITE GLASS and let the wick hang in the glass. Make sure that the wick is in the middle. The massage candle now needs 24 hours to dry and harden. Now you can write on your chalkboard paint lid or decorate the lid nicely. Your DIY massage candle is now ready to give as a gift. To use, simply light the candle and wait until the massage wax has liquefied. Now apply it to the skin and massage it in. Don't worry - it is pleasantly warm, but not as hot as conventional wax ;) You can find many more ideas for homemade zero-waste gifts on our blog, such as:
