Homemade jam
Preserving in a water bath
The basics of canning are simple. Having the right tools and a certain amount of know-how are the keys to success. Although canning can be a hot, sticky business, we are sure you will enjoy it. Here's how to do it:- Clean Oleni Mason Jars and check that they are free from cracks or scratches.
- Place Oleni Mason Jars in a pot and fill it with water.
- Prepare jam.
- Bring the water in the pot with the Oleni Mason Jars to a boil.
- When the jam is ready, take out one jar at a time (you can use a preserving rack or a tea towel) and fill it with the jam, leaving 1-2 cm free up to the edge.
- Screw the jars shut with the lids.
- Now place the jars of jam back into the pot of water and bring the water to the boil. Make sure that there is a gap of about 2 cm between the edge of the jar and the pot. Close the pot with the lid. As soon as the water boils, let the jam jars simmer in it for another 10 minutes.
- Turn off the stove, wait 5 minutes and then remove the jars.
- Caution ! Never place the Oleni Mason Jars on your cold kitchen counter immediately after preserving, as the glass could shatter. Use a towel or tea towel instead. Place the jars upright on top. You do not need to turn them over.
- Allow the jam jars to cool for 12-24 hours and store in a dark, cool place.
A dream for toast lovers
Easy preserving at home
Well, sounds doable, doesn't it? The great thing about preserving is that you have so many options for preserving your food. It doesn't just have to be jam. Whether it's tomato sauce , stews, soups, fruit or vegetables... by preserving, you preserve your food and ensure that you have long-lasting supplies on your shelf. The homemade delicacies also make great gifts. The jam looks particularly pretty in the Ball Mason Jar | Flute | 475 ml , with the diamond pattern under the lid.
