Dye Easter eggs naturally - with turmeric, spinach and co. Dyed Easter Egg with Turmeric in Ball Mason Jar What you need: And here's how it works: First, boil the eggs for about 8 minutes until they are hard. In the meantime, prepare the dye as follows: Boil hot water (except for the cranberry juice - bring this to the boil straight away), divide the ingredients between the individual Ball Mason jars and add boiling water. You will need about 250 ml per jar. You can also easily read the fill level on the Mason Jar glass - you will find a ml indication on the side of our Ball Mason Jar | Wide | 475 ml .
  • Hibiscus tea : Let the tea brew for 20-30 minutes, remove the tea + let the eggs brew for 1 hour
  • Coffee : Let coffee brew for 20-30 minutes, remove coffee + let eggs brew for 1 hour
  • Turmeric : Mix turmeric with water, add eggs, let it steep for 30 minutes
  • Cranberry juice : Add eggs, let stand for 2 hours
  • Spinach : Boil spinach with water for 30 minutes, remove spinach + let eggs soak overnight
Two eggs fit into each 475 ml Mason jar . It is important to cover the eggs completely with liquid. The longer you let the eggs soak in the dye, the more intense the colors will be - not always, but usually. For example, soaking them overnight in cranberry juice did not result in a darker color. A dash of vinegar in hibiscus tea - and the egg will become even lighter. What didn't work for us, for example, was matcha tea/green tea. For example, you can first let the egg soak in the "blue color" and then dip it in the yellow color - this way you get a green color. Have fun dyeing eggs with natural materials!
